Our clients typically want to know about the firm history of the Law Offices of Matthew Z Martell, P.A. In 2000, Matthew Z. Martell, Esq. founded the Law Offices of Matthew Z. Martell, P.A. after working in private practice at a large “AV-rated” law firm with offices in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, and at a mid-sized AV-rated firm in Sarasota. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science, and from the University of Akron School of Law in 1998 with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree. At age 28, he established this law firm, which has successfully grown and earned a reputation in the local community for honesty, hard work and success due to his commitment to his clients and compassion for their legal problems.

Born and raised in a small college town in northeast Ohio, Attorney Martell is the son of a respected and successful attorney who became a judge during the last 10 years of his life. He has been around lawyers and law offices since he was a child. Having grown up around lawyers, Matt Martell has a keen perspective and unique understanding of the legal field that most other attorneys do not have. In short, he takes his legal work and profession very seriously.

Attorney Martell has handled cases in 13 different Florida counties, two (2) different Florida District Courts of Appeal and six (6) different Florida federal district courthouses. He has handled cases in small claims court; county courts; circuit courts; appellate courts; federal courts; administrative law courts; the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation-Office of Appeals; the Florida Unemployment Appeals Commission; the Florida Division of Administration Hearings; the EEOC; and the Department of Labor.

His areas of practice have included: Divorce, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Landlord/Tenant Law, Employment Law, Real Estate Litigation, Estate Planning, Business Litigation, Corporate Law, Probate, and Guardianship. He now focuses on Divorce and Family Law.

Attorney Martell is committed to making sure your lawyer’s hourly rate is reasonable and fair. More importantly, he actually is doing your legal work rather than making a legal secretary or paralegal do it and then calling it and billing it out as his own. Unfortunately, this routinely occurs at other law firms. At our law firm, you work with the lawyer you hired and not a case manager, paralegal, or young associate attorney.

We are prompt, efficient, and effective in arguing cases with opposing lawyers and also before judges and magistrates. If we can conclude your case efficiently to your satisfaction through negotiation and settlement, we will always attempt to do that first. We have found that most clients want to get out of the legal system as soon as they can, stay out of court, and just put their divorce or family law problem behind them as quickly and as possible. If your divorce or family law case cannot be resolved through a negotiated settlement, we will pursue your claim efficiently through the court system. Our primary goal is to maximize your chances of a successful resolution of your divorce or family law case. We do not take divorce or family law cases to hearings or to trial that we do not intend to successfully conclude fairly and in accordance with our client’s overall legal goals.
